Danzig Appears On Chris Jericho’s “Talk Is Jericho” Podcast

All hail Danzig! I am, and always will be, a diehard Danzig fan. Based on the merits of the Misfits and Samhain and the fact that he hasn’t succumbed to drugs, and is still rocking, makes me love him even more.

Somewhat surprisingly, Danzig has recently appeared on pro wrestler Chris Jericho’s podcast “Talk Is Jericho,” so this is one of the few times that you will get an in-depth interview with Danzig. Although initially surprising, Danzig has long been a pro wrestling fan and oftentimes can be seen at live WWE events. Listen to the podcast below:

Danzig Releases Music Video N.I.B. To Mixed Reviews

Danzig, the man the myth the legend, has awakened from his slumber and released a music video N.I.B. and not surprisingly it’s controversial. Danzig, himself, as far as I could see has not appeared in the video. But instead the video hosts women who look they come straight from the San Fernando Valley. As much as I love horror and the occult, the video just isn’t very…. scary, spooky, or sexy. I’m a diehard Glenn Danzig fan, and am happy that he’s still active, when so many of my heroes have died young. Part of me just hopes that he re-visits his early punk roots, when he created his best and most unforgettable music that has cemented his musical legacy. You can watch the video below.

Danzig Set To Play Phil Anselmo’s Housecore Horror Festival

Despite vowing to never embark on a full-scale tour again, Glenn Danzig remains remarkably active, which is awesome for people who recognize his legendary musical achievements and talents. His latest booking is at Pantera lead singer Phil Anselmo’s pet project, Housecore Horror Festival in Austin, Texas. Only a couple years old, the Housecore Horror Festival was borne out of Phil Anselmo’s undying love for H.P. Lovecraft, B-film horror movies, and the macabre.

When he first launched the festival, he said he would only continue it if he considered it a success, and it appears like it was successful enough for Phil Anselmo to stage it once again in late October of this year. Anselmo also notes that him and Glenn Danzig have a long history together, with Danzig being a cool guy who has acted like a mentor to him. So, hopefully, this means that Danzig’s performance will go smoother than some of his other live performance controversies.

Song Of The Day “Spook City USA” by the Misfits

Spook City U.S.A.
Spook City U.S.A.
See the ghosts as you drive past graveyards
Spook City U.S.A.
Deathly souls in American graveyards
Spook City U.S.A.
Here is where I’ll die for sure
I don’t want no substitute
Spook City U.S.A.
Spook City U.S.A.
See-through spectres cruise the hallways
Spook City U.S.A.
Poltergeists in the middle of the roadway

Samhain Confirmed To Play At Chicago’s Riot Fest

Samhain may be considered the redheaded stepchild of Glenn Danzig’s musical efforts, sandwiched somewhere in between the original Misfits and his later self-named Danzig band. However, it could be argued that the merits of Samhain have been underappreciated, much darker, more experimental, and less kitschy than the Misfits and Danzig.

They are, however, briefly reuniting to play the annual punk rock festival Riot Fest in Chicago. When people first saw that Samhain was playing Riot Fest, they were wondering that Samhain? And the answer is YES! since Glenn Danzig confirmed it on his official site. No matter how many critics Glenn Danzig may gather, he is punk rock royalty in my eyes. And any chance to see him nowadays should be seized. His music is one of the main reasons why my undying love for punk was ignited.
