Rancid may be the closest thing punk rock has to beloved and revered veterans now that most of The Ramones have passed away. They have been on hiatus for many years, with the lead singer Tim Armstrong staying busy with his record label Hellcat Records, and his own musical projects under the name Tim Timebomb. Tim Armstrong may be one of the most beloved men in punk rock, with his personal struggles with relationships (Brody Dalle) and drugs, perhaps only endearing himself to punk rock fans.

Rancid more than any other band, except for perhaps Green Day, brought ska punk to the masses, reaching beyond the hardcore punk fans. They will be releasing an album “Honor Is All We Know” reportedly in June. And, realistically, it’s one of the biggest and most mainstream releases the punk rock world has seen in a long time.
